The role

We are currently recruiting for Careers Guidance Advisers to work in secondary schools with young people aged typically between 11 and 18. As a Careers Guidance Adviser you will build and manage relationships with schools to promote and increase knowledge around high-quality careers guidance. You will need to engage with a variety of people, including teachers, young people and Youth Talent providers. You will be responsible for registering new Learners and identifying their skills and needs to effectively match them to placements and services that will help develop their careers.


Key accountabilities

• Building and maintaining relationships with schools, teachers and Learners to promote agreed activities. • Register eligible Learners and provide them with clear, succinct information about our services. • Provide good customer service to all stakeholders. • Plan and coordinate events such as Careers Fairs, Employer Workshops and Higher Education Open Days. • Introduce Learners to employers and work placements/internships, regularly evaluating their needs and reporting on their progress. • Maintain an up to date knowledge of the labour market, employers and industry sectors, courses, in-school provision, qualifications and work experience opportunities.


Skills & experience

Person Specification • You will have experience of working with young people, teachers and other stakeholders within educational establishments. • Self-starter with experience of working remotely. • Strong communicator with the ability to build strong relationships. • Good organisation and time management skills. • Experience of working within a customer focussed, target driven environment. • Willingness to travel locally Desirable • Degree or relevant qualification – Level 3 or 4 NVQ Information, Advice & Guidance would also be of interest. • Fluent in a community language such as: Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Somali, Vietnamese, Dari, Yoruba, Turkish, French, Spanish, Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Farsi, Guajarati, Polish, Serbian and Greek (Dependent on programme).
