About us

Reed in Partnership were launched as one of the first private welfare-to-work providers in the UK. Our first contract started in Hackney, delivering a 'New Deal' contract to support local jobseekers. As our performance and expertise grew we have expanded to deliver services in Scotland, Yorkshire, the North West, the East of England and across London.

As well as growing our Welfare to Work business, we have also diversified our business and now deliver a range of services and contracts including Apprenticeships, College Jobs Brokerage Services and the National Citizen Service.

The role

This role, which reports to the Associate Director for Business Development, forms an integral part of the Business Development Team charged with leading and developing Reed in Partnership’s Business Development Strategy, monitoring the market, developing viable operational delivery models and successfully tendering through large scale public procurement exercises.  The role will involve working across a range of markets including Welfare-to-Work, skills, justice and probation and services to young people.

Key accountabilities

  • Consult and evaluate supply chain relationships at all levels and to make recommendations to support proposals, bearing in mind current operational relationships across current contracts.
  • To provide leadership to bid development projects.
  • Take a role in working with internal and external partners to identify, develop and pursue tender opportunities.

Skills & experience

  • Successful Bid Writer/Business Development Manager with at least three years experience of bid writing and managing bid processes. An understanding of business development in a public sector context would be advantageous.
  • A very high degree of commercial awareness constantly  focusing on the cost and bottom line impacts of process and organisational design.
  • Highly developed research and analytical skills.
  • Experience of coaching and supporting small teams of more junior reports and working with them to achieve specific projects to demanding and tight timescales maintaining a short term focus on quality of outputs while also building the capacity for quality to improve.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to explain complex business concepts, delivery models/solutions.
